THE TRADITIONAL NEIGHBOURHOOD EATERY HAS JUST GROWN UP
Whether it's our original location on 17th, or our upcoming location on 10th ave. National is where big, boisterous personalities hang their hats for fine food, beer and spirits. Open for late-breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, both locations will offer a huge oyster and mussel bar, full cuts of meat, and a wine & cocktail list with several different brews that celebrate the small lot North American producer.
And if you feel like bowling a few frames to work off some of our incredible food, the upcoming 10th ave location will house a full bowling alley featuring 8 lanes. So whether it's a few beers after work with friends or a big night of food and drink, you can be sure of one thing. National is the place to be.

In 1999 Jon Molyneux found himself exhausted and alone in Cambodia after a long day of bumpy, dusty travelling. It was here that a family happily welcomed him into their home, feeding him a delicious meal and engaging in a great conversation that went long into the night. Soon Jon forgot all about the hard day he had just endured, and went to bed that night with an idea: to make people's day better by providing them with the best service, hospitality, food and drink. Upon his return to Calgary, Jon opened his first restaurant, The Living Room, and hasn't looked back since, and has been at the helm of many of the city's great dining concepts.

Since he was a small child, great food has always been Justin Leboe's guiding light. From humble beginnings at 13, Justin began his journey washing dishes for Vancouver maestro Umberto Menghi. It is this passion for food that has lead Justin to his position as Executive Chef of Model Milk. Here he creates seasoned menus based on turns in some of the finest kitchens (Rush, The French Laundry, Daniel) and destinations (Napa Valley, Bermuda, Melbourne) around the globe. Leboe is at the vanguard of a group of passionate young chefs who serve a food-first philosophy. His curiosity and adventure drive a return to the roots of what makes an enjoyable night out. The kitchen is open, the chef loves to chat, and the mood is festive; a reality best experienced in the dinner party atmosphere at every table at Model Milk.

Kai Salimaki
Executive Chef
Kal Salimaki's goal is to make people happy through great food. Honing his skills in the kitchens of Calgary's Catch Restaurant, Double Zero and The Vin Room (where he earned a 9 out of 10 rating from CBC's Jon Gilchrist), his drive and desire to create interesting, unique and most importantly, delicious, food is central to National's lo-fi, high-flavour philosophy.

A big, huge good luck to all the chefs competing in the 4th Annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Festival shuck-off at National tonight! There are still a few standing room tickets available at the door - come early to avoid disappointment. Doors open at 4PM!
